IBBAI WAGGAN PEOPLE

Ibbai Waggan-Wiradjuri People being the Ancestral Owners of Ngurangbang within the Wiradjuri Nation. Our status has been affirmed by the testing of our family group genealogy and continued connection to our land.

Our genealogy originates from our Indigenous Apical Ancestors and encompasses a myriad of preceding family ancestors through Mayn & Kinship.

Through statements recorded in historical records and actions taken by our Ancestors, Ibbai Waggan-Wiradjuri People claim “Exclusive Possession” over our Mayn & Kinship Tribal Ngurangbang.

We know our history and family apical status entitles our group to exercise this ” Inherit Right” on activities within our tribal boundary. As such, the Ibbai Waggan-Wiradjuri People claim this right, to govern our Ngurangbang, which is retrospective to pre-European settlement.

Ibbai Waggan-Wiradjuri People have been denied access to our Cultural Sensitive sites and excluded from any rightful benefits from our Ngurangbang to support projects to assist the Ibbai Waggan-Wiradjuri People.

Ibbai Waggan-Wiradjuri People have continual unbroken Exclusive Possession & continual unbroken Physical Connection through Mayn & Kinship of many families within our Tribal Lands > 40000 years pre-invasion & European settlement 1770 to present day. Our Exclusive Possession covers all aspects of Ibbai Waggan-Wiradjuri from our Spirituality, Culture, Lore, Customs, beliefs and a duty to shield Ibbai Waggan-Wiradjuri Tribal Ngurangbang. We know this and always have through oral stories handed down through our kinship structures.

The very foundation of these beliefs is based on the principals of payback, with our forests burning, land clearing & our animals dying, massive fish kills along the Cudgegong, Macquarie & Bell Rivers, all on Ibbai Waggan Lands. Contemporary people on this continent must heed the message, if you break these payback rules, the sun will punish you, water will punish you & our soil will punish you”
